Projects

The chair is currently being established. We are currently in the process of translating our research topics (mineral by-products and waste, chemical recycling laboratory and waste management and environmental technology) into ideas for concrete contract and proposal research projects. We are looking for clients and project partners from industry, science and administration. If you are interested, please get in touch with us.
?
We look forward to hearing from you!

ForCYCLE Technical Center - Recycling foundry dust?

Dust occurs during many process steps in the metal industry. The highly heterogeneous composition makes the recycling process difficult, which is why a large proportion of the dust produced ends up in landfill sites. In addition to the finite capacities of landfills and the environmental impact, foundries are also facing additional challenges with rising disposal costs. Building on the results of ForCYCLE II, the identified foundry dust recycling method is now being optimized in the follow-up project. The aim of this project is to optimize the recycling process and to test it on a pilot plant scale in order to enable cost-efficient recycling of foundry dust and to reduce the burden on Bavarian foundries, landfills and the environment in the future.

The ForCYCLE Technical Center project network is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection and coordinated by the Bavarian Resource Efficiency Center (REZ) at the Bavarian State Office for the Environment.

AI Production Network

The AI Production Network Augsburg is an association of the University of Augsburg, Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, the Fraunhofer Institute for Casting, Composites and Processing Technology IGCV and the Center for Lightweight Production Technology (ZLP) of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Augsburg. Regional industrial partners are also involved. The aim is to conduct joint research into AI-based production technologies at the interface between materials, manufacturing technologies, data-based modeling and digital business models. The Augsburg AI Production Network is being funded with 92 million euros from the Bavarian state government's HighTech Agenda until the end of 2025.
