Arsen Djurovi? Prize for Historical Research on Textbooks

The "Arsen Djurovi? Prize for Historical Research on Textbooks" was donated in 2012 by Milica Djurovi?, the widow of the renowned Serbian schoolbook researcher Prof. Dr. Arsen Djurovi? (1959-2012); she was awarded the Honorary Membership of the Society in 2014 for her credits with regard to the promotion of historical research on textbooks.

Arsen Djurovi? was a member of the Society for many years and for several years its vice-president. Besides his teaching at the university of Belgrade, he took part in the development of new curricula and textbooks for history after the political changes in former Yugoslavia.? At his heart he had especially the historical schoolbook research, in particular about Serbian history schoolbooks from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries – an important era for the multi-ethnic Serbia. The annual conference of the society in 2009?took place at the university of Belgrade at his invitation.

The Arsen Djurovi? Prize will be awarded every two years to members of the Society for (at least) three articles or one monograph from the field of historical schoolbook research; the last publication may not be older than two years.

The publications shall make an important contribution to historical schoolbook research with regard to contents and/or methods.?The texts should preferably be in German or in English, otherwise detailed abstracts of the texts in German or in English have to be added.?The jury consists of the members of the managing board of the Society. Further reviewers will be consulted if necessary.

The prize money is 1.000 Euro. The prize can be split.
