The aim of University of Augsburg is to develop even stronger group research proposals (in particular, in the DFG funded programmes formally known as coordinated programmes: Research Training Groups, Research Units and Collaborative Research Centres as well as the coordination of Horizon Europe Projects), but also high-quality, large-scale individual funding grants (e.g., ERC Grants).

?

A mandatory condition for success in the acquisition of high-quality third-party funded projects is convincing, relevant, and high-quality published preliminary work. It demonstrates the technical expertise of the applicants and reduces risks to the success of the project from the point of view of the funders. This applies to all funding formats of the university’s key funding bodies.

?

The aim of this internal university funding process is therefore to support the preparation and coordination of third-party funded research proposals, as well as to support preliminary research culminating in publications required for more extensive third-party funded research proposals (especially internationally peer-reviewed publications).

?

The programme is thematically open. Preference will be given to projects that culminate in a third-party funded research proposal that are strategically important for the faculties or disciplines as well as the entire university.

?

Professors who have not been relieved of their duties as well as non-professiorial faculty members who hold a doctorate are eligible to apply. The allocation procedure is strictly quality- and research-oriented. The procedure for the allocation of funding is carried out by a selection committee in cooperation with the faculties. External, anonymous reviewers are also involved. A written application must be submitted following the DFG format. Further details are set out in the following call for research proposals.

?

Published now is the fourth call for proposals, which closes on 31 December 2024. We are looking forward to receiving your applications.
