The University of Augsburg had its own stand at Gamescom in Cologne for the first time this year and welcomed thousands of visitors over the five days of the trade fair. Guests experienced hands-on research, tested cutting-edge VR headsets and student-developed games, and even designed and 3D-printed their own objects on site.?

A research team led by Prof Falk Büttner, professor for protein analysis at the Institute of Theoretical Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, has published a study in the renowned journal Cell Reports Medicine that describes a new biomarker for the non-invasive diagnosis of bladder cancer.?

The University of Augsburg has become a full member of the Scholars at Risk Network (SAR). The network is primarily supported by universities and funding institutions. It was established in 1999 by the University of Chicago to protect scholars who are under threat or in danger and to strengthen freedom in research and teaching.

The cooperation between the University of Augsburg and the University of Johannesburg (South Africa) celebrated its 25th anniversary on 10 July. To mark the occasion, the initiator of this success story, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Helmut Koopmann, was invited as guest of honour to the conference, which took place in Augsburg at the beginning of July.
