Peter Michaelis, born in 1959, married since July 25, 2008, studied economics at Heidelberg University.

From January 1987 to March 1990 research assistant at the Chair for Economic Theory II at Heidelberg University. Doctorate in waste management (awarded with the Baden-Württemberg Metal Industry Promotion Prize 1990).

From April 1990 to February 1996 research assistant in the environmental research group at the Institute for World Economy at Kiel University. From March 1996 to March 1999 professorship in economics at the economics department of the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. At the same time, external habilitation at the University of Kassel on economic aspects of the greenhouse effect.

Since April 1999 owner of the Chair of Economics IV with a focus on environmental and resource economics at the economic sciences faculty of the University of Augsburg. From August 2000 to June 2008 member of the Advisory Council on Environmental Issues.
