The “Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum International Visiting Professorship” was created to strengthen the Humanities, Cultural Studies and Social Sciences at the University of Augsburg and to increase their international visibility. The Professorship has been held by a wide range of world-acclaimed individuals with outstanding achievements in science, academia, politics, society, arts and literature. Offering public lectures, seminars and debates on topical and relevant social and political issues, the Professorship creates an important platform for exchange between the guests, the university and the residents of Augsburg.

The International Visiting Professorship is organiszed anually. It is a joint initiative of the faculties of the humanities, cultural studies and social sciences and the Jakob-Fugger-Zentrum.
