Research Associate (m/f/d), Faculty of Applied Computer Science

At the Faculty of Applied Computer Science at the University of Augsburg, a position is available at the Chair of Informatics for Medical Technology in the Institute of Computer Science from July 1, 2025, as a

Research Associate (m/f/d)

with 50% of the regular working hours for fixed-term employment, initially for three years. Compensation is provided according to personal and collective agreement conditions under salary group 13 TV-L.

During your occupation, you will work independently within a committed and qualified team, with opportunities for scientific and personal development as well as furthering your academic career. This involves taking on scientific tasks and the planning, implementation, and coordination of one or more of our research projects. You will publish your research results in the form of scientific articles at international conferences and in leading international journals. You will also support the acquisition of new research projects and contribute to academic teaching in the field of computer science.

Your tasks:

  • conducting and evaluating experiments within a research project focused on medical informatics in movement analysis
  • developing and establishing an app for the measurement of conclusive movement parameters
  • developing and validation of AI-supported prediction and classification models
  • participation in academic teaching

Your profile:

  • outstanding master's degree or PhD in the field of computer science with focuses on bioinformatics, medical informatics, sports science, movement science or signal analysis
  • excellent programming skills in C++, Java, Python, or similar
  • profound knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence/machine learning
  • exceptional interest in the application of medical informatics
  • very good communication skills in German or English and a high degree of independence and initiative to develop and implement your own ideas and concepts in a structured manner
