Study content:

The research-oriented Master's program "Ibero-Romance Cultural Studies" (IRK) is aimed at students who want to broaden their horizons to include the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America in an international study environment. In addition to Spanish- and Portuguese-language media and socio-cultures, the course focuses on transatlantic relations between Europe, the Americas, and Africa, which are examined from both historical and contemporary perspectives, including (post-)colonial and (trans-)areal aspects.

    An above-average first degree qualifying for a profession, either in Germany or abroad, with at least 60 credit points from a philology such as Ibero-Romance Studies, Hispanic Studies, Lusitanian Studies, Latin American Studies, Comparative Literature, etc., History, in particular Iberian and Latin American History, Ethnology, Political Sciences or from other subjects such as European and Latin American Studies or (Trans-]Area Studies, the contents of which are comparable to the above.
    An above-average degree is given if the applicant, with the overall grade achieved on the basis of the examination regulations of the undergraduate degree program, belongs to the best 50 out of 100 of the graduates of the respective examination year; proof is provided by a confirmation of the responsible examination authority. This proof is deemed to have been provided if the overall grade is 2.5 or better.

If the certificate (No. 1) is not available, proof of the examination results achieved in this degree programme (at least 140 credits), the average grade achieved in the process, the number of credit points included in the calculation of the average grade, as well as the number of credit points required for the completion of the corresponding degree programme must be enclosed (Transcript of Records). Students of the University of Augsburg please apply for the certificate at an early stage via e-mail ssc@zv.uni-augsburg.de at the Student Service Centre.
